Galapagos Animal Paradise

If I was an animal, I would want to live on the Galapagos!
Why ?

Why would people spend so much money to travel the Galapagagos islands ? And what makes the so special and magical ?

Well.. I guess the #1 reason for people to travel to the Galapagos is that this is pretty much the only place on earth not ruined by mankind.

Many things that are without consequenses in the rest of the world are to be fined in the Galapagos. And YES you can get arrested and kicked out if you don’t follow the rules!
This is the only clean place on earth and it is protected!

One of the strictest rules would be your behavior towards wildlife. You are requested to always keep 2m – 3m distance to any animal on the island! You better follow that rule because #1 think of the animals who surely don’t want to be touched by 100s of strangers a day. #2 If the police catches you, your vacation is over.

Littering… Trash the island and your vacation is over.

Flowers and nature.. don’t even think about picking leaves or flowers! – Your vacation will be over.

It’s sad but yes only these strict rules keep people on the right track! And yes only hard consequenses make them follow the rules. And yes.. there is A LOT of securtiy checking on the animals. It’s all about the animals and natures wellbeing.
That’s what I like about it. None of the animals is scared of humans none of them are shy or scared to get close to humans.
Why ?
Because they know nothing will happen to them from mankind.

The Galapagos are a little piece of paradise still exciting on this planet. And it takes a lot of work and even more money to keep this going.

And if you wonder how it is possible to pay all those security guards, you pay high fees for entetirng the Galapagos πŸ˜‰
The entire areat of the Galapags Islands are a natural park / Β reserve.

Are these charges justified ? YES.
I guess it’s not just to pay for the necessary staff but also toΒ discourage people from travelling there. There more tourists the worse for the Island.
That’s why the number of people who can visitΒ the Galapagos in a year is restricted.

So if you are planning to go there you should book early. πŸ˜‰

And always remember:
Be good to your environment and it will be good to you!

  1. I had no idea the rules were so strict there! I’ve listened to a couple of podcasts that say how hard people have worked to keep it pristine though, and I’m glad they have. Hopefully we’ll be able to make it there one day, because it looks amazing!

    • Yes they work so hard on keeping it the way it is. It’s also so amazing to see how the animals just come close to humans without being scared. Seals and humans lying at the beach at the same time thats such an amazing experience! Hope you can get there some day πŸ™‚

  2. I have longed to go to the Galapagos Islands for many years now. It is very high up on my list. I am glad to hear of the restrictions placed on people interacting with this extraordinary environment. How sad though that this special place is one of the few that is protected in this way, and so many governments across the world are decimating their very own natural environments out of shortsightedness and greed. Sometimes when I read about these crimes against Mother Nature and the beautiful creatures across the earth I despair. Thank heavens there are still some places still that know how to pay proper respect to the gifts our earth has for us to share. Thank you for bringing this issue to light so well.
